It has been a miserable festive period for Manchester United, with José Mourinho’s side dropping points against Leicester City and Burnley on Christmas Eve’s Eve and Boxing Day respectively. They’ll look to finally get back to winning ways on Saturday, when they play host to Mauricio Pellegrino’s inconsistent Southampton.
The Saints are winless in seven, and pressure is mounting on their Argentine coach. They're only two points clear of the drop zone, and could find life even more difficult now they’ve flogged star centre-back Virgil van Dijk to Liverpool. There’s no doubt that United should be winning this game.
United will be without Michael Carrick, Eric Bailly, Marouane Fellaini, Marouane Fellaini, Antonio Valencia and Chris Smalling; Matteo Darmian and Anthony Martial are both in doubt. Southampton are short on injured trio Cédric Soares, Ryan Bertrand and Charlie Austin.
