Three to miss Manchester United's Europa League tie

Manchester United will take on Saint-Étienne without three senior professionals.

After an unusually calm period on the injury front, things were always bound to pick up again. Speaking ahead of United's Europa League game against Saint-Étienne, Jose Mourinho indicated that both Wayne Rooney and Michael Carrick would be rested due to muscular niggles, and that Phil Jones is still recovering from the injury he picked up against Hull City. Damn you, Hull City.

While Rooney would presumably have been on the bench, both Carrick and Jones would have been under consideration for a first-team place. In their absence, we may see Ander Herrera and Paul Pogba share anchoring duties with Henrikh Mkhitaryan in front of them. It's a first leg at home, after all. Be good to get some goals.

At the back, Marcos Rojo is fit again, so might take a place on the bench. Perhaps the most interesting decision to be made, therefore, will come at left back. It's a first leg at home, after all. Be good to see Luke ... wait, hang on.

Oh dear.
