Luke Shaw and Wayne Rooney missing from Manchester United's Europa League squad

Manchester United have flown to France without their captain or their out-of-favour left-back.

Manchester United are taking a three-goal lead to France, but Jose Mourinho still can't find room in his squad for Luke Shaw. The young left-back has been omitted from the twenty-person group heading to Saint-Etienne for the second leg of the Europa League last-32 knockout game.

Maybe he's being kept fresh for the League Cup final. Yeah. That'll be it. Nice one, Jose. You old softy.

Also missing are Wayne Rooney, who we assume is still suffering with this vague and unspecified muscular malaise. Michael Carrick's better though, and has travelled. Phil Jones is still crocked, we're guessing, and Ander Herrera is suspended.

The full squad is below. Given the impending cup final, we're predicting a similar team to that which lined up against Blackburn at the weekend. But we've been wrong before, and we can only apologise, again, and reiterate our offer to split the cleaning costs.

(O'Hara, for those of you wondering, is a 20-year-old Mancunian goalkeeper, who's acting as third-choice while Joel Pereira recovers from injury.)
