Pogba and Ibrahimović both start for Manchester United against Saint-Étienne

Jose Mourinho is taking no chances with his starting XI against Saint-Étienne in the second leg of United’s Round of 32 Europa League tie. Even with a commanding 3-0 lead from the first leg at Old Trafford, Mourinho has decided that the best way to avoid having to send on Paul Pogba and Zlatan Ibrahimović to save the day is by having them on the pitch to begin with.

As with all the second rate cup games, Sergio Romero lines up in goal. Ashley Young gets a second consecutive start at full-back, and he’s joined at the back by Eric Bailly, Chris Smalling, and Daley Blind.

In midfield, Pogba has to make do with Michael Carrick and Marouane Fellaini, which is a damning indictment of United’s midfield depth. Up front, Ibrahimović has better company in the shape of Juan Mata and Henrikh Mkhitaryan.

After three consecutive starts, Anthony Martial gets a breather, but is available off the bench alongside Marcus Rashford. Bastian Schweinsteiger - who is still being paid handsomely to do nothing - is there too.
