As continental excursions go, they don't come much more convenient than a quick hop to Belgium. So we're assuming that Jose Mourinho will be delighted that Manchester United were today drawn against RSC Anderlecht of Belgium in the Europa League. Their Constant Vanden Stock Stadium a mere 333 miles from Old Trafford.
Barring any shenanigans on the part of television companies or UEFA, the games will be played on 13 and 20 April. United will be away in the first leg, and at home for the second.
What do we know about RSC Anderlecht? Unlike United, they have won this competition before, beating Benfica in the 1983 final (and then losing to Tottenham the following season).
This season, they sit two points clear at the top of Belgium's Jupiler League, a competition they last won in 2013-14. The most notable name in their squad is midfielder Youri Tielemans, who has been repeatedly linked with United over the last few months and is, according to those who know about such things, pretty good.
Most important, however, is that they play in purple, which is objectively the best colour a football shirt can be. Objectively. You may think another colour is better, but you are wrong. That's just science.
