The walking wounded of Manchester United travel to Burnley, chasing a win to maintain their chase for a top four finish. Thursday’s Europa League victory has come at a steep cost as both Zlatan Ibrahimović and Marcos Rojo are confirmed long-term absentees. With Juan Mata also out for the foreseeable future, United are stretched so thin in attack that Wayne Rooney may well start at Turf Moor.
At the back, Eric Bailly has played virtually every minute since the international break, and as United’s only fit senior center back, he’s likely to continue again today. Daley Blind is one option to partner Bailly in defense, but there’s also the possibility of young Axel Tuanzebe making his full debut. Mourinho has also confirmed that both Ander Herrera and Ashley Young will be in the starting XI.
The Reds will be hoping to improve on the snoozefest of a 0-0 draw in the reverse fixture last October.
