If, last season, you'd told the Busby Babe that we'd be really worried about a Marcos Rojo injury, we'd have replied: Yes, of course we are. Injuries are horrible. We're not monsters.
Admittedly, we wouldn't have thought it was much of a blow to Manchester United's season. But Rojo has been a spiky, committed and surprisingly effective mainstay of United's defence over the last few months. He is arguably this season's most improved player. And he is, according to various newspapers and other media outlets, going to miss the rest of it.
"Significant knee ligament damage" is the agreed upon verdict, which isn't the kind of thing that clears up with some paracetamol and a quick blast of horse placenta. As with Zlatan Ibrahimovic, all United are saying is "specialist opinions" will be needed, and "estimations of time to full recovery will only be possible once definitive treatment plans have been decided after these consultations".
Best of luck to them both.
