Restored to the starting line-up against Burnley, Anthony Martial answered the challenge laid out to him by the manager by scoring the first goal and setting up the second in Manchester United’s 2-0 win.
The move started with a clearance from United’s own penalty area. Martial received the ball, made Joey Barton look like a fool (bonus points), sprinted the length of the field (with Joey Barton hopelessly failing to either keep up or tackle the Frenchman), passed the ball out wide for Herrera, before collecting the first-time return ball and finishing adeptly.
Counter-attacking goals are the best. Even ones that cost £8.5 million. Let’s hope that this is a sign of things to come.
