Get in! After being effectively ruled out for the rest of the season since undergoing groin surgery over the last international break, Juan Mata has been pictured with the rest of the playing squad at the team hotel for tomorrow’s Premier League clash against Swansea. José Mourinho hinted recently that Mata could be the first of the players with long-term injuries to make a return, but to see the Spaniard involved before the end of April is a significant surprise.

Given that Wayne Rooney’s services may be required in midfield, having Mata available to bolster United’s attacking options is a welcome boost.

In other surprising team news, reserve midfielder Scott McTominay was also pictured with the playing squad. The 20 year-old is yet to make his senior debut, and looks to have a chance of being named on the bench tomorrow.

The full list of confirmed squad members is as follows:

  • David de Gea
  • Sergio Romero
  • Joel Pereira
  • Antonio Valencia
  • Matteo Darmian
  • Axel Tuanzebe
  • Eric Bailly
  • Luke Shaw
  • Michael Carrick
  • Ander Herrera
  • Scott McTominay
  • Jesse Lingard
  • Ashley Young
  • Juan Mata
  • Henrikh Mkhitaryan
  • Wayne Rooney
  • Marcus Rashford
  • Anthony Martial
