Manchester United, despite concerted efforts, have somehow still managed to not yet completely ruin their chances of finishing above sixth in the Premier League. Next up on the carousel of eventual disappointment is Sunderland, currently coached by former United manager (HAHAHAHAHA) David Moyes. Moyes, who Sir Alex Ferguson hand-picked to be his successor, will certainly be sacked once Sunderland’s relegation is confirmed. Life comes at you fast.
Ashley Young has joined Wayne Rooney on the injured list, alongside long-term absentees Chris Smalling, Phil Jones, and Juan Mata. Paul Pogba should be fit enough to regain his starting place, however, and Antonio Valencia should be ready to go after being rested in midweek.
For Sunderland, United loanee Adnan Januzaj is of course not eligible to play, and according to Roker Report, fellow United old boy John O’Shea will not be involved either.
José Mourinho playing an away game in a competition that is now a secondary priority, against a David Moyes team desperate to get a result? Let’s not expect too much excitement from this one.
