“Remember when is the lowest form of conversation.” With all due respect to Tony Soprano, we’re feeling a bit nostalgic today.
Ten years ago today, Manchester United lifted the Premier League trophy after a three year drought. It was the first full year of Patrice Evra and Nemanja Vidić and that now legendary defense. It was Michael Carrick’s debut season at United, playing alongside Paul Scholes in a midfield that was light on muscle but heavy on elegance. It was of course, Cristiano Ronaldo’s first world-class season, and (*Paddy Crerand voice*) God Almighty, he hasn’t looked back since. Wayne Rooney back when he was still a sensational player. Gabby Heinze before he acted like a dick. Ole! Fletch! Err, Kieran Richardson!
What a team.
