Manchester United continue their pre-season of the United States with a Monday night match up against the hilariously named Real Salt Lake. As was the case in the weekend’s 5-2 victory over the LA Galaxy, José Mourinho plans to field a completely different XI in each half. Sergio Romero and Joel Pereira will share the goalkeeping duties, and Mourinho has confirmed that the team will line up with four at the back, and not the 3-5-2 that we saw at the weekend.
With just a week’s worth of training, we’re not expecting much more intensity than was on display over the weekend, but there’s always a chance that we see a hint of future tactical wrinkles, and a chance for some players to put themselves into the manager’s thinking.
Pre-season friendly schedule
Kick off is at 03:00 UK time on Tuesday (if waking up in the middle of the night to watch millionaires get into shape is your thing), which is 10:00 PM on the east coast of the USA (on Monday) and 07:00 PM over on the other side.
Pre-season friendly TV channel
In the UK, you’re out of luck. This match is not being broadcast outside of MUTV. In the USA, tune in to ESPN 2. Everybody else, head over to LiveSoccerTV.
Pre-season friendly streaming
Nothing (legal) in the UK; and WatchESPN in the US.
Starting lineups
It’s a return to 4-3-3 for the RSL match-up, at least for the first half. Romelu Lukaku makes his first United start, Scott McTominay also gets a start in midfield, and Timothy Fosu-Mensah gets an audition at right-back.
