Everything appears to be running smoothly for Manchester United so far this pre-season, though things could hit a snag when José Mourinho’s men face off against reigning European champions Real Madrid on Sunday. California's Levi’s Stadium plays host to the International Champions Cup clash, in the first meeting of these sides since Louis van Gaal’s United defeated Madrid 3-1 in August 2014.
United’s chances are certainly boosted by the fact that this is the first friendly of Real Madrid’s tour; United, by contrast, already have three full matches under their belts. Fitness is often decisive in these fixtures, and Madrid’s lack thereof should give the Reds the upper hand. A repeat performance of the win over Manchester City earlier this week would go down very nicely indeed.
