Manchester United reveal 2017-18 home kit

It’s red.

Manchester United and Adidas have today launched the home kit they’ll be wearing for the upcoming season, and, shock horror, it’s red.

This page on the United website features the usual bluster, in which the new strip is said to feature “a minimalist, sophisticated design which pays homage to some of the classic kits from the past, at the same time as being at the forefront of technical sportswear design with technical, breathable fabrics and mesh engineering.”

Perhaps the most exciting detail — if such details can rightly be called exciting — is the peculiar button-up collar, while the sleeves are trimmed by black and white bands said to “represent the colours of the flags seen on matchdays at Old Trafford.” It will apparently be worn for the first time when United take to the field in their first pre-season game against the LA Galaxy in under a fortnight’s time.
