Say what you like about Ed Woodward, but the man knows a bargain when he sees one. Most executives would have just flown their team straight back home after touring the USA, but canny old Ed noticed that flights were a little bit cheaper via Norway, albeit with a bit of layover. Which is why Manchester United are continuing their preseason in Oslo this afternoon.
Ho ho ho. Aren’t we funny.
Today’s friendly against Vålerenga is a chance for United to test themselves against a team that have already begun their season, and so should in theory be a little sharper than Real Madrid, Barcelona, and the rest. Mind you, the same was true of LA Galaxy, and they didn’t put up much of a fight. So who knows? But Juan Mata and Ander Herrera may return from injury, so that’ll be nice.
Pre-season friendly schedule
Kick off is at 18.00 UK time on Sunday, which is 19.00 in Norway, 13.00 on the east coast of the USA, and 10.00 over on the other side.
Pre-season friendly TV channel
In the UK, you’re out of luck unless you’ve got MUTV. And as far as we can tell, this isn’t being shown in the USA. However, it is on TV 2 in Norway and Spo TV 1 in South Korea, for some reason. Any Korean viewers, do say hi.
Pre-season friendly streaming
Nothing legal in the UK, unless you’re using the MUTV app or subscribe through the website.
