Anthony Martial is back. That’s how Jose Mourinho sees it, anyway, perhaps, maybe. Martial has come off the bench in two games and scored twice. He has played his part in other attacks, full of direct running and more constructive teamwork on the pitch with his colleagues. This is a player who could be absolutely brilliant if he’s in the right frame of mind, team, and. For the first time in almost a year, there is a reason to be positive.

Andres Iniesta could be available at the end of the season on a free transfer. We could expect that he wouldn’t go in for a transfer to a Mourinho side, but with Michael Carrick set to leave after one more season, then getting hold of someone who could play a similar role in a squad and a team, for no transfer fee, doesn’t seem like a bad idea. Or maybe he’ll join Juan Mata and Ander Herrera when they both leave on a Bosman to Manchester City.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic should soon re-sign for Manchester United. The Swedish striker posted a video of him kicking the eff out of a punch/kickbag, because he likes to show off. It would be no surprise to see him ready to return before the end of the year, a touch earlier than already expected.

ESPN think he should be signing a new deal this week.

Martin Samuel is often found writing offensive nonsense and half-truths in the Daily Mail - that is what the Daily Mail is for, after all - but he’s made a good point here: once Mourinho gets his nose in front, he rarely lets things go. This start to a season so far reminds me of Alex Ferguson’s return to form in the league when he signed Michael Carrick, and United barely looked back for three seasons.
