Manchester United return to Champions League action on Tuesday, hosting Swiss champions Basel in their opening group stage game. José Mourinho will be hoping his side have put the disappointment of the weekend’s draw with Stoke City behind them, as United bid to start their European adventure with a victory. Anything other than three points at home to such opposition would come as a big disappointment.
United will be without Zlatan Ibrahimović and Marcos Rojo, who are both injured; Phil Jones and Eric Bailly are both suspended. Ashley Young, Luke Shaw and Marouane Fellaini are all early doubts. Basel have made a disappointing start to their domestic campaign, and sit three points adrift of league leaders Young Boys after seven games. However, coach Raphaël Wicky should have a full-strength side for the trip to England.
