Manchester United travel to Southampton on Saturday, hoping to continue their unbeaten run and keep pace with Manchester City at the top of the table. José Mourinho has no new injury concerns, and may even have a selection headache in a few positions. Ander Herrera impressed in midweek, and could be in line to provide a more dynamic alternative to Marouane Fellaini in midfield. Luke Shaw is now ready - in theory at least - to compete for the left-back spot that continues to be rotated. And both Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial will feel like they have done enough to earn a start on the left of the attack.
Southampton are one of seven teams that only sit a single point outside of the top four, and have only lost once this season in the Premier League. Coveted central defender Virgil Van Dijk could make his first start of the season against United, after effectively going on strike to try to force a move to Liverpool. It’s a shame that Van Dijk didn’t get his dream move, as he could’ve been navigating the giddy heights of eight place, instead of languishing down in ninth.
