Official confirmation of Alexis Sánchez’s move to Manchester United seems to be imminent, with the Chilean attacker having been photographed at the Reds’ Carrington training ground on Sunday. Earlier in the day, Sánchez had posted a video clip on Instagram from an airport, seemingly about to make the trip up north.

The Telegraph suggest that the switch will be confirmed on Monday, with Henrikh Mkhitaryan seemingly happy to move in the opposite direction. Poor soul.

The same newspaper claims that Sánchez will become United’s highest-paid player, with the four-and-a-half-year deal set to cost the club an eye-watering £180 million. However, when on form there’s no doubting that he’s one of the very best players in world football, and he’s going to be a huge asset to José Mourinho over the next few years. 29 he may be, but there’s no reason to think he hasn’t got a few elite-level seasons left in the tank.
