Alexis Sanchez has started training with Manchester United after joining the club. Presumably he has been signed in time to take on Yeovil, and it would be an easy fixture to use to get him used to his new club. On the other hand, it’s only Yeovil, so perhaps Jose Mourinho will just leave him out so he can acclimatise, and spare him the risk of injury. Either way, at least we don’t have to worry about Henrikh Mkhitaryan being on the pitch but not actually contributing anything.
Compelling news regarding Zlatan Ibrahimovic. There’s vital new information when we consider how his fitness is going as he returns from a serious knee injury. There’s a hugely promising sign about his progress, though, because as you can see in this story here, he is advertising a range of underwear. It’s all thrilling, vital stuff.
The Telegraph wonder how Manchester United can sign Sanchez given the huge amounts of cash they are handing over in wages. The shock answer is that United earn millions in TV and marketing revenue, and both of those figures are expected to keep growing at a ridiculous rate for some time yet. It’s dispiriting and there’s nothing good to be said about the whole nonsense. As long as there’s capitalism, there will be United.
According to a story in The Independent, United are lining up more signings to go along with Sanchez’s arrival. Julian Weigl from Borussia Dortmund is one target that United are after. Carlos Soler is expected to join from Valencia at some point in this transfer or next. Jean Seri is a target from Nice, and he could join in this transfer window. Mesut Ozil remains a target, but he will probably be signed on a free transfer, if at all, in the summer. Lastly, United are considering bringing in Fred from Shakhtar Donetsk as his move to Manchester City runs on.
