Manchester United will make the short cross-town trip to face local upstarts Manchester City on Sunday, hoping to continue a run of form that has seen them drop only two points in their last four league games. United head into the game nine points in arrears of City, who have only dropped points twice all season; Pep Guardiola’s side are two clear of Chelsea at the top of the table.
However, United’s recent run has given them some genuine hope of picking up a result. They’ve not lost at the Etihad since 2014, and memorably roared back from two goals down to win 3-2 and postpone City’s title celebrations back in April. Something similar wouldn’t go amiss.
United will certainly be without Diogo Dalot, though Romelu Lukaku, Antonio Valencia and Alexis Sánchez all have a chance of featuring. City’s biggest miss is Kevin De Bruyne, who’s sidelined alongside backup keeper Claudio Bravo.
