We’re not yet at the halfway stage of the season, but Manchester United already find themselves 16 points adrift of Jürgen Klopp’s high-flying Liverpool. The Merseysiders would move top of the Premier League table if they beat José Mourinho’s stop-start rag-tag bunch at Anfield on Sunday, and they’ll be confident of their chances: they’re the only side in the division yet to lose.
United’s chances aren’t helped by a rash of injuries: Victor Lindelöf and Alexis Sánchez are both certain to miss out; Marcos Rojo, Luke Shaw, Anthony Martial, Chris Smalling, Matteo Darmian and Diogo Dalot are all in doubt. Liverpool’s main problems are in defence: Joe Gomez, Joel Matip and Trent Alexander-Arnold join long-term absentee Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain on the treatment table; Nathaniel Clyne remains a doubt.
