Paris Saint-Germain are the latest club to throw their chapeau into the ring for the signature of Spurs defender Toby Alderweireld. As well as the signature, they also want the player, and he would be used as one of the central defenders. That’s news for Manchester United, and Barcelona, as they were planning on getting involved in a serious, balls-out bidding war for the Belgian international. If he’s willing to join and Spurs are willing to sell, then he should be top of the list in any list of targets for Jose Mourinho. He’s consistent, reliable, and has plenty of Premier League experience.

Luke Shaw can be one of the best full-backs in the world, says his colleague Ashley Young. Young has shown what managers want from a player: hard work, versatility and tactical understanding. It has won him minutes from Alex Ferguson, David Moyes, Louis van Gaal and now Mourinho. Shaw, on the other hand, has demonstrated no commitment to his profession, with a reputation for poor diet, heavyset body and poor effort in training. He has disappointed every manager he has had since joining United, and also England’s former manager Roy Hodgson. Best to cut United’s losses and find someone who is willing to try.

The Mirror reports a story that Jose Mourinho felt disrespected by Paul Pogba celebrating with him after the win against Liverpool. These days, anything could be true, and it’s becoming pretty tiresome to see a club wasting their best talent, and their best talent wasting time.

CRISIS. Alexis Sanchez eats alone in the canteen, the club fear he’s another Angel Di Maria, and he cuts a mardy figure. Given he’s only been at the club for two months it’s probably easiest to file it under things not to give a single eff about.

And lastly, Pogba said it would be a pleasure to play with Neymar. CRISIS. DISASTER.
