U-S-A! U-S-A! U-S-A! Manchester United announced today that the team would be returning to the United States this summer on tour, as part of their pre-season preparations. For the second year in a row, United are choosing to play the bulk of their summer friendlies on the other side of the pond, for both logistical and monetary reasons. The logistics are an American preseason are favored by the manager (compared to, say, the travel headaches of a full Asian tour), and United never seem to be able to exhaust the supply of tourists willing to part with ludicrous sums of money in order to watch millionaires get into shape.

Two games have been announced so far, with more to be added. The Reds will face Club America in Glendale Arizona on July 19th, before squaring off against the San Jose Earthquakes on July 22nd in the traffic hellscape of Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California.

The two-week tour will start with a game against the Mexican side Club America in the University of Phoenix stadium, Glendale, Arizona on Thursday 19 July, kick off 19:00 (local time).

Jose Mourinho’s men will then face MLS side San Jose Earthquakes at the Levi’s Stadium, Santa Clara, on Sunday 22 July, kick off 14:00 (local time).

All games of Tour 2018, presented by Aon, will be available live on MUTV, via the channel, app or live streaming, depending on the country of subscription. Further details on additional games, venues and ticket details will be announced soon.

Fans hoping to see a full-strength United team may be disappointed, however, as many of United’s biggest names are likely to be busy with World Cup commitments and subsequent rest until the tail end of pre-season.
