The website Footy Headlines have cobbled together a mock-up of what they believe to be Manchester United’s new home kit. Suffice to say, it could prove divisive. The kit, in Footy Headlines’ words, is “unlike any the club has worn before”, featuring a red shirt that fades into black stripes, accompanied by black shorts and a similar gradient pattern on the socks:

Given that they’ve come to this conclusion by piecing together scraps of information and blurry social media photos, Footy Headlines have slightly hedged their bets, though they’re still claiming the prediction is 85 per cent accurate.
We’re not quite sure what that means, but it seems like they’re pretty confident United will be wearing horizontal stripes next season. The gradient graphic reportedly “consists of differently sized hexagons and fades into a more subtle line pattern in the upper half of the shirt.” Exciting.
Football fans are largely traditionalists, so we’re fully expecting this to go down badly. We must admit, it does look slightly like a training kit. We’ll find out how accurate the images are when the kit is officially launched later this month.
