Manchester United will travel to Bayern Munich this summer for the team’s final pre-season game ahead of the 2018/19 campaign. United will face the reigning Bundesliga champions at their revamped Allianz Arena on Sunday 5th August, and it will be the Reds’ final pre-season match before the real action begins in August.
Munich were the opposition for United’s most famous victory in the 1999 Champions League final, and the teams met most recently in competitive action during the David Moyes Era. That night, the hosts won handily, but those few seconds after Patrice Evra scored the opener were perhaps the only good memory of that wretched season.
As is now the standard in modern football, both clubs had their social media employees engage in what passes for banter these days.
