With absolutely no sense of timing, modesty, or basic good manners, the Premier League has chosen the opening day of the World Cup to announce next season’s fixtures. It’s football Christmas, you crass vandals. Pipe down.

Ahem. Sorry. Anyway, Manchester United will begin at Old Trafford, against Leicester City. Their next game will be away at Brighton & Hove Albion, before closing August with the first game against a fellow Big Sixer, Tottenham Hotspur at Old Trafford.

Looking further ahead, the first game against Liverpool is away on December 15, with the return to be played February 23. The derbies are away on November 10, then back at Old Trafford March 16.

Other dates of note: Boxing Day is a home game against Huddersfield Town, and New Year’s Day is away at Newcastle United. Of course, we strongly suggest not organising anything until far nearer the time, as these fixtures have not yet been pulled apart by the meddling hands of Sky Sports and BT.
