There are reports that former Manchester United winger Cristiano Ronaldo has had his release clause lowered at his current club, Real Madrid. According to the story, the existing release clause of a billion euros has been dropped to around a tenth of that. Manchester United have been repeatedly linked with Ronaldo since his departure, and there have been plenty of whispers that he is on the cusp of coming back to Old Trafford, but none have gone anywhere yet. A hat-trick at the World Cup has shown that he has plenty of quality right now, but it’s questionable for how long that can be maintained.

Adnan Januzaj has done something good on a football pitch! After years of waiting, Januzaj scored an excellent goal for Belgium against England in their World Cup group stage decider. Januzaj is currently at Real Sociedad, but United retain a buyback clause should he kick onto something more impressive. There’s no doubting his talent, just the attitude he has.

There’s a story in The Independent that suggests that Paul Pogba is being mistreated by the French press after some fairly meaningless guff that he emitted in a press conference while on duty for the French national team at the World Cup in Russia. With Marouane Fellaini staying, United have little competition for Pogba to up his game and stay in the first team next season.

The racist, fascist, and feted hero of a majority of American white people, Donald Trump, has made a joke about Cristiano Ronaldo. I’ve not looked at it because I don’t care, I’m just including the story so I can insult Trump and the Americans who think he’s an acceptable figure, and even more so to annoy people who think sport and politics shouldn’t mix, because they are unaffected by its implications.
