Marouane Fellaini is set to hold talks with Arsenal, with a view to signing for the London club on a free transfer, after the expiration of his Manchester United contract at the end of this month. Oh my days. Nobody move. Don’t jinx it.
Manchester United are interested in signing the French center back Clément Lenglet from Sevilla. According to a report in L’Equipe, United face competition from Barcelona for the 22 year-old’s signature. José Mourinho is said have been impressed by Lenglet’s ability on the ball when Sevilla dumped United out of the Champions League last season. We couldn’t possibly comment, as we’ve successfully repressed the entire memory of both those matches. Spending significant money on another young central defender instead of a more senior partner for one of the two young defenders purchased in consecutive summer windows? Sure, why not.
There may be some troubling news out of Spain. One of the reasons that Zinedine Zidane reportedly decided to quit was a disagreement over the pursuit of David de Gea. Zidane was happy to stick with Keylor Navas, but club president Florentino Perez still has his eyes on our Dave. Good thing De Gea says he’s happy then.
Speaking of goalkeepers, United’s highly-rated Dean Henderson is set to make a decision on his future soon. After impressing out on loan last season, Henderson is apparently hesitant about signing a new deal at United. The soon-to-be out of contract player would be an excellent addition to several Championship - and even Premier League - clubs, so is weighing up his options before deciding whether or not to accept United’s contract offer.
Lastly, Andy Mitten has a well-sourced article that looks at the process behind Manchester United identifying transfer targets.
