Alan Shearer has praised Paul Pogba’s performances for the French national side. He said that Pogba plays with freedom for France in a way he rarely manages for Manchester United. Shearer is right, but it’s not just Pogba that plays better when he’s away from United. Marouane Fellaini has been far more effective, too. Marcus Rashford has shown little of his skill, though, and perhaps it would be little surprise if Raheem Sterling retains his position for England despite some pretty frustrating appearances through the middle of the pitch.
United have missed out on teenager Sam Greenwood. The 16-year-old starlet has decided to sign with Arsenal ahead of choosing Manchester United. The Sunderland player is now headed for the bright lights of a dreadful city, leaving behind a dreadful city, and missing out on the chance to move to a different, dreadful city.
United have missed out at the other end of the age spectrum. The 33 year old Cristiano Ronaldo is joining Juventus for £99m, after flirting with a return to Old Trafford for the best part of a decade. He should hit another 40 goals a season, and while that isn’t United’s problem position right now, they better have something special planned. It’s easy to forget about Alexis Sanchez, isn’t it?
You can find out now where Pogba and other United players might now feature on the world’s most expensive players following the zesty transfer.
United have been linked with Xherdan Shaqiri, who has a release clause of around £12m, updated to £13m in more recent reports, after Jose Mourinho was reportedly impressed with his showings. Liverpool now seem like they are in the lead for his signature and might have him signed in time for their tour of the United States, which is another name for America.
