Monday night was a fairly damning indictment of the state of humanity, with England’s 6-0 win in Bulgaria in their Euro 2020 qualifier marred by racist abuse. The game was halted twice as the Three Lions ran riot, with reports claiming that home supporters resorted to Nazi salutes and monkey chants.
Nevertheless, the game was completed, and Marcus Rashford kicked things off with a stunning goal in the seventh minute, cutting inside off the left and unleashing a rocket into the top corner. He later tweeted that the England team were “proud we rose above it”, but questions remain over whether the game should have been finished.
Have a watch of Rashford’s screamer below:
Marcus Rashford has just scored an absolute stunner.
