Manchester United couldn’t hold on to a 1-0 lead against league leaders Liverpool, but came away with a point after withstanding a late push for a comeback winner.

Here are the player ratings from the 1-1 draw.

Starters

De Gea: 7/10

Looked good after an injury scare over the international break. Never really made uncomfortable by Liverpool’s shots, but deserved a clean sheet. A moment of poor defending robs him of that.

Victor Lindelof: 6/10

Played well after some worrying performances, but gave everyone a scare when Mane got past him and scored. VAR saved him from total embarrassment.

Harry Maguire: 8/10

Maguire bossed it today, and continues to show his worth after his big money move to Old Trafford this summer. Maintained shape and control of a new-look back 3, and did well to keep aerial chances minimized.

Marcos Rojo: 4/10

Rojo normally makes some dumb, costly errors when he does get on the pitch, and that was the case again today. Failed to deal with a soft cross by Andy Robertson, and Lallana pounced to equalize for a Liverpool side that had been outplayed for the previous 85 minutes.

Aaron Wan-Bissaka: 7/10

Good performance from Wan-Bissaka on his return from illness. Could have been more decisive on the ball in attack, but his energy and defensive presence was crucial in controlling the right hand side.

Ashley Young: 5.5/10

Actually played well most of the match, but switched off on the Liverpool goal and cost United 2 points.

Scott McTominay: 6/10

McTominay’s work rate has been vital in a weak and depleted midfield. Another solid performance despite not having a trustworthy partner.

Fred: 5/10

Another poor performance from Fred. He had a decent sight at goal in the second half, but other than that didn’t do much to contribute.

Andreas Pereira: 5/10

Pereira was wasteful in the first half, and squandered an excellent chance early with a soft shot right at Alisson. Settled a bit in the second, but didn’t make much of an impact.

Daniel James: 7/10

Excellent work setting up Rashford’s goal and providing a spark going forward throughout the match. Had some worrying clashes with Liverpool defenders after a head injury scare with Wales, but insisted on staying in.

Marcus Rashford: 8/10

Very good outing from Rashford today. Finished off an excellent counter to give United the lead in the first half, and narrowly missed a chance to double it in the second. Looked a bit frustrated at times over options joining him in attack, but overall a solid performance that reminded fans what he’s capable of.

Substitutes

Anthony Martial and Brandon Williams: N/A

Brought on late, made no impact

Manager

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer: 6/10

Sent out a squad ready for battle, and was rewarded for the most part. Late subs again made little impact though, and possibly led to some worn out legs allowing Liverpool to equalize.
