Starters
De Gea: 6/10
Had several key saves despite what the scoreline suggests. Sloppy defending continually put him in bad situations. Maybe should have had a better look at the second goal, though it was well struck.
Victor Lindelof: 4/10
Not very impactful. Needs to work on his closedown defending.
Harry Maguire: 5/10
Maguire should have done better on the second goal, but he made a solid effort to get the ball forward and take the pressure off the depleted midfield.
Phil Jones: 2/10
Withstood the initial pressure in the opening minutes, but going at Jones paid off for the Blades. There was good reason to take him off at the half.
Aaron Wan-Bissaka: 5/10
Not a great performance from AWB. Needs to improve joining the attack, and not super impactful in defense.
Brandon Williams: 6/10
Took a bit to settle into the game, but really made an impact in the second half comeback. Great finish to start the scoring and net his first goal.
Andreas Pereira: 1/10
Awful today. Indecisive, continues to give the ball away, and made United’s midfield seem empty. He’s better in an advanced role only because the stakes are lower on his giveaways.
Fred: 4/10
Not a good outing, but at least maintained a presence in midfield and was involved
Marcus Rashford: 6/10
Came alive in the second half after not getting much going in the first. Finished off a great move by the front three, initiated by Daniel James and Anthony Martial, to score the third goal and put United ahead.
Daniel James: 7/10
Excellent work setting up Rashford’s goal and providing a spark going forward throughout the second half. His energy gave United a boost when they needed it.
Anthony Martial: 5/10
Struggled to get involved, but contributed to the buildup for the second half goals.
Substitutes
Jesse Lingard: 5/10
Didn’t play very well when he came on, but his presence opened up the Blades midfield a bit more than it had been in the first half.
Mason Greenwood: 6/10
An excellent replacement for Pereira. Injected some life into the game, and bagged his first Premier League goal in the process.
Axel Tuanzebe: N/A
Brought on late to shore up the defense, but that didn’t happen...
Manager
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer: 5/10
Initial starting 11 was not up for it. Made good changes in the second half to get United back in it, but the move to settle into a back 3 to close the match out was arguably what led to Sheffield United’s third goal. Hopefully it’s clear now that it’s better to trust the kids than some of this squad that have managed to survive for so long.
