Manchester United vs Paris Saint-Germain: Fan Feedback & Predictions

We are days away from the return of Champions League football

Manchester United are back to their winning ways under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. United have won 9 and drawn 1 in a 10 match run in the Premier League and FA Cup, including big wins away to Tottenham and Arsenal. After a visit to Craven Cottage to take on Fulham at the weekend, United return to UEFA Champions League action with a highly anticipated clash with Paris Saint-Germain in the Round of 16.

PSG are without their superstar winger Neymar, and could be without Italian playmaker Marco Verratti as well, but still boast top drawer attack talents like Edinson Cavani and World Cup winner Kylian Mbappe. The French champions have a comfy lead in their Ligue 1 title defense, and just advanced to the quarterfinals of the Coupe de France after an extra-time win over Villefranche. Both sides are high on confidence and looking to take the advantage in the first leg of the tie on Tuesday.

How will United line up for the big occasion? Will they be able to find the net against the Ligue 1 title holders? Will PSG stumble in the Round of 16 yet again?

Let us know your thoughts in the polls and comments!

Tactics

With Ole at the wheel United have pressed early and often in every game they’ve played. Paul Pogba has been handed the baton to conduct the attack, and the result has been 25 goals from 10 different goal scorers in 10 matches.

Do you expect this trend to continue, or a more conservative approach against PSG?

Midfield Battle

With the midfield trio of Pogba, Nemanja Matic, and Ander Herrera in form plus the absence of Neymar and Verratti, it could be possible for United to dictate the match in midfield. Pogba’s quality going forward could be especially troubling for PSG’s depleted ranks. Defenders Marquinhos and Dani Alves have even been called into action at the center of the park in recent games. Leandro Paredes arrived in January to reinforce the midfield, but has yet to appear for the Parisiens.

Will United have their way in midfield, or will PSG hold their own?

Fatigue

Finishing up the holiday Premier League schedule is not as big of a relief as it might seem. Breaks between league games may be longer, but the return of FA Cup and Champions League football has meant more mid-week games in all competitions for United.

The expectation seems to be that Solskjaer will rest key players against Fulham at the weekend, which looks desperately needed considering the way United’s energy has died out late in recent matches.

Will fatigue be a problem for Manchester United players against a quick and energetic team like PSG?

United Lineup

Solskjaer’s regular 11 are again pegged as the favorites to start vs PSG, but with the match schedule getting tight there is the possibility of rotating players.

Does Solskjaer change up the starting 11 for PSG, or will it be business as usual?
