Marcus Rashford will not play for the England national side against the Czech Republic and Montenegro after withdrawing from the squad due to injury.
He is not the only Manchester United player to miss international duty through injury, with Nemanja Matic and Romelu Lukaku also not playing for their country in this round of games.
Anthony Martial also withdrew from the French international squad for his country’s games with a thigh injury.
England manager Gareth Southgate said: “We knew from a couple of days ago that Marcus wouldn’t be ready for the Czech game, so it’s a great opportunity for the others because they’ve been exceptional in training — they look like they’ve been with us for ever.
“When I’ve looked back over the two years at who scored the important goals and contributions, the squad has had to be involved. We’ve always had four, five, six players missing. There will be people who have not played often but all will be ready for England.”
Manchester United are still more than a week from playing their next game, when they will host Watford at home in the Premier League, before returning to Wolverhampton Wanderers the following Tuesday following their 2-1 FA Cup defeat.
