Manchester United striker Romelu Lukaku has failed to turn up to training, according to reports.
The Mirror claims that Lukaku was due to report for training at Manchester United’s Carrington complex, but instead spent another with Anderlecht’s squad with their own preparations for the coming season.
United had given the Belgian striker permission to train with Anderlecht on Monday, but Lukaku was not given the go ahead to remain away from the club that pays his wage.s
That means that there is a suggestion that the 26-year-old striker is trying to engineer a way out of the club after a move to Juventus appeared to fall through. United and Juve were close to an agreement that would have been Paulo Dybala swap places with Lukaku, but it seems as if the Argentine forward has elected to stay in Italy despite being behind Cristiano Ronalo in the pecking order.
However, Inter Milan - the club that Lukaku was originally keen on joining at the start of the summer - have made a £65 million bid. That is an improvement on the £54 million initially offered, but United are reportedly holding out for at least £10 million more.
Inter boss Antonio Conte remains confident of completing a move for the player, saying: ”We continue to work on it in the best possible way. I understand there are some gaps that need to be filled but at the moment I am very hopeful that this will happen.”
