The loss of Greenwood is a setback for United, who have had a busy summer window ahead of their debut season in the English top flight. They managed to hold on to most of their Championship winning team as well as add top talents such as England defender Abbie McManus and Dutch midfielder Jackie Groenen, but will now begin the search for a new team captain and starting left-back.
Casey Stoney’s side begin their Women’s Super League campaign on Sept. 7th against defending champions Manchester City.
