Manchester United kick off their Europa League campaign against FC Astana at Old Trafford on Thursday. We’re not anticipating a feast of football, but Ole Gunnar Solskjær’s boys will surely be expecting to start with a win. Astana — the Kazakh champions — are not to be underestimated, and made it through to the Champions League group stages three years ago, but United remain heavy favourites heading into this one.
If there is a reason to tune in, it’s because we’re going to see some of United’s rising stars given opportunities in the first team. Solskjær has confirmed that Mason Greenwood and Axel Tuanzebe will feature from the off, in the most exciting of a series of rotations from the Premier League win over Leicester City last weekend.
Europa League schedule
It’s a 20:00 kickoff in the UK, which translates to 15:00 on the east coast of the U.S. and 12:00 on the west.
Europa League channel
BT Sport 2 in the UK. It doesn’t look like there’s any English language TV options in the States, but for a Spanish commentary tune into Galavisión. Everyone else head on over to LiveSoccerTV to find your viewing options.
Europa League streaming
BT Sport’s live streaming service in the UK. Those Stateside have English and Spanish language options on B/R Live and Univision NOW respectively. If you’re in Canada, you can stream the game through DAZN.
Lineups
Prediction: Sergio Romero; Diogo Dalot, Axel Tuanzebe, Harry Maguire, Marcos Rojo; Nemanja Matić, Fred; Juan Mata, Jesse Lingard, Marcus Rashford; Mason Greenwood.
Update: 8/11. Jones instead of Maguire, but the big news is that the team’s even younger than expected. Tahith Chong and Angel Gomes start, with Mata and Lingard on the bench.
