Manchester United return to action in the Carabao Cup on Wednesday, taking on League One side Rochdale at Old Trafford. The game should provide a welcome relief for Ole Gunnar Solskjær, who watched his side fall to an awful 2-0 defeat away at West Ham United in the Premier League on the weekend.
It’s a relatively short journey for Rochdale, who only have to make a half-hour drive down the M62 to get to Manchester. They’re currently playing their league football in England’s third tier, and head into this one winless in four. However, they’re sure to be fired up for the opportunity at a giantkilling, and will be inspired by Colchester United’s unlikely win over Tottenham Hotspur yesterday.
Paul Pogba and Mason Greenwood could return to United’s starting lineup after absences, though Marcus Rashford has joined Anthony Martial, Luke Shaw and Eric Bailly on the treatment table and looks set for a spell on the sidelines.
Carabao Cup schedule
It’s a 20:00 kickoff in the UK, which translates to 15:00 on the east coast of the U.S. and a 12:00 on the west.
