Reports out of Portugal suggest that the Sporting Lisbon management have told Bruno Fernandes to start saying goodbye to the fans tonight as Sporting host Maritimo this evening.
Portuguese daily newspaper O Jogo claim that over the weekend, Manchester United increased their bid for the coveted midfielder, making the offer around £46-47 million up front with an additional £12m in add-on incentives, resurrecting a bid that was presumed dead after last week’s meeting between Sporting and United broke down without a deal.
According to multiple reports, United had “an initial offer of €45m (£38m) plus add-ons for the 25-year-old midfielder rejected by Sporting, who value Fernandes at €85m.”
There is a willingness on both sides to reach a compromise however, and the reportedly imminent bid from United of around €55m should be enough to satisfy Sporting, pending the agreement of various add-ons.
#mufc and Sporting are now discussing the bonuses structure for Bruno Fernandes. United have been offering more achievable bonuses such as the club qualifying for the Champions League. Sporting do not consider these easily achievable #mulive [duncan castles, @TransferPodcast]
