Manchester United drawn against Paris Saint-Germain and RB Leipzig in Champions League group stage

United are in the toughest Champions League group, but at least we get to see Rafael again

Manchester United, back in the Champions League after a year in the Europa League, were drawn in Group H against last season’s runners-up Paris Saint-Germain, whom they knocked out in 2018/19.

Also joining them — making what many feel is the toughest group in this year's tournament — are RB Leipzig and Turkish champions Istanbul Basaksehir.

United had only been drawn with PSG on one previous occasion, prevailing in the most dramatic of circumstances over two legs in 2018/19 with Marcus Rashford’s stoppage-time penalty earning victory on the away goals rule, with the teams tied 3-3 on aggregate.

This will be the first time United will line up against RB Leipzig, who made it to the semi-finals of the Champions League last season, after eliminating Tottenham and Atletico Madrid in the knockout rounds.

Istanbul Basaksehir are newcomers to the Champions League and have never faced the United but they do have former Reds full-back Rafael in their ranks.
