Diogo Dalot has left Manchester United for AC Milan on a season-long loan. The Portuguese right-back was highly-rated when signed from Porto under José Mourinho, but has struggled for playing time under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. At the end of last season, Dalot found himself behind Timothy Fosu-Mensah — who had not played in over a year — in the pecking order at his preferred position, and the writing seemed to be on the wall.
According to reports, Dalot’s loan move to Milan does not include an obligation or option to make the signing permanent at the end of the season. Dalot joins Andreas Pereira (who joined Lazio) in leaving United for Serie A for the year. Chris Smalling is also expected to complete a permanent transfer to Roma on deadline day.
