Manchester United will face Austrian side LASK in the Europa League round of 16. The first leg will be played in Austria in a fortnight’s time. Haven’t heard of LASK before? You’re in good company. The little-known club have upset the odds to make it to this stage for the first time in their history, finishing atop a group containing Sporting Lisbon and PSV Eindhoven before dumping out Dutch side AZ Alkmaar in the first knockout round.
It should be a picturesque away day for United’s travelling supporters, with the club based in the northern city of Linz. Normally they play in a ground barely big enough to fit 6,000 people, but they’ve been using a bigger, 14,000 capacity arena for European fixtures. Ole Gunnar Solskjær will surely be pleased with the draw, and will be hoping that United don’t have to do much to quash LASK’s fairytale run.
