Multiple sources are claiming that Paul Pogba will be making a return to Manchester United training this week after being sidelined since Dec 26th after surgery on his ankle.

The dynamic midfielder originally injured his ankle in September attempted a comeback but then re-injured it enough to require surgery to repair the damage.

Pogba spent most of his rehab in Dubai and last week posted a video with him, Eric Bailly, and Odion Ighalo at United’s Carrington training facility. United’s team doctors were happy with his progress and have given him the green-light to resume training.

It appears that he still won’t be ready for Thursday’s FA Cup matchup at Derby County or Sunday’s Manchester derby but all indications point to a return date around United’s Europa Match against LASK on March 12th.

With Pogba’s return and the January addition of Bruno Fernandes, United’s midfield, on paper, will be very formidable. Manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer could line up a midfield 3 or 4 with Fernandes, Pogba, Fred and/or Scott McTominay, with further options of Nemanja Matić, Juan Mata, and Andreas Pereira to give depth on the bench.

Pogba has played just eight times for United this season and has been linked to several high-profile clubs in the summer transfer window. Pogba’s accelerated recovery comes as a surprise, with Solskjaer admitting before Thursday’s win over Club Brugge that he didn’t know when the Frenchman would return.
