The Chippy: Dí Maria’s wife hates Manchester and Ander Herrera is a champion*

All the news that’s not fit to print on its own

As you all know, The Busby Babe is a Manchester United website. Or, at least, we pretend to be. Before the suspension of football made us start reviewing cooking competitions, providing excellent ragu recipes (you’re welcome), giving Gary Neville movie recommendations, interviewing pets, ranking cheeses (we’re very much into food, clearly), and imagining players as Marvel superheroes and fast food items, we mostly covered Manchester United.

But not all the news stories that we come across are worth their own articles, and occasionally there are non-United football stories that may be of interest to United fans. So we decided to find a home for all those odds and ends; a place to discuss all the miscellaneous bits from around the football world and beyond. We may do this once a week, we may do it every couple of days. Who cares, really? Let’s get random.

Welcome to The Chippy.

Ángel Di María’s wife was not a fan of Manchester.

And Jorgelina Cardoso left her rat-faced, shithouse husband in no doubt as to her feelings, either, telling Los Ángeles de la Mañana what she told Di María:

“Darling, I want to kill myself, it is already night at 14:00 p.m. in the afternoon.”

She also wasn’t a fan of the people:

“The people are all pasty-faced, prim and proper...weird. They’re walking down the street and you don’t know if they’re going to kill you or what. The food’s disgusting. All the girls are all dolled up to the nines, perfectly made-up and there’s me with my hair in a bun and with no make-up on.”

How do you really feel about the city, Jorgelina?

“It was horrible. Manchester is the worst. It is all horrible in Manchester.”

You expect us to believe that Paris and Madrid are more pleasant places to live than Manchester? News to us.

Ander Herrera is a league champion*.

With Ligue 1 officially canceled, Paris Saint-Germain have been named league winners. Shocker. That means that our own Ander Herrera — a man who excels at pointing and looking busy on a football pitch — has the first league title of his career. He says he didn’t celebrate it, though, and he also says that he left United because he wanted more money than United were willing to offer over “disagreements” with the board.

Football is coming back!

The Bundesliga will be the first major European league to return to action, with a confirmed start date of May 16th. Germany is miles ahead of the UK in terms of its response to the coronavirus pandemic, so this is not an indication of an impending return for the Premier League. But still, football! Is this a good idea? Maybe not!

Social isolation is taking a toll on all of us

But please. Don’t be this guy.
