Starters
David De Gea: 7/10
Comfy game for the Spaniard. Most action was probably yelling at his defenders for allowing a shot from range.
Aaron Wan-Bissaka: 9/10
Very effective today on both ends. Lockdown defending, and played a great role down the right in attack. Assisted for Anthony Martial’s second goal.
Victor Lindelöf: 8/10
Strong performance, and dealt with 1-on-1 situations very well. He and Maguire worked well dealing with long balls, which troubled them a lot against Spurs
Harry Maguire: 7/10
A strong outing from the captain after a costly mistake against Spurs last Friday. Could’ve had a goal, but was called for shoving Sheffield United defenders on a couple set piece occasions.
Luke Shaw: 6/10
Caught out of position a couple times, but it never led to anything for the Blades. Needs to be aware of his man and not drift too central when the ball is on the other side of the pitch.
Nemanja Matić: 7/10
Didn’t necessarily leave his mark on the match, but provided a lot of stability in possession for United. Got forward well, very involved in build up play.
Paul Pogba: 8/10
Not the most influential performance, but a constant and stable presence in midfield. Had an exciting run past a few defenders in the second half, but Martial took the shot off him.
Bruno Fernandes: 7.5/10
Linked up well in attack. Misfired a couple times, but overall a solid creative display. Still having a few problems with decision making, but Pogba’s presence helped alleviate pressure on him in build up.
Mason Greenwood: 7/10
Could tell he wanted a goal real, real bad today. Made the wrong decision to shoot when he had help, but can’t fault him too much for trying. Decent overall.
Marcus Rashford: 8/10
Should have scored, and he was clearly frustrated that he didn’t, but still put in a good shift. Two assists for Martial and excellent movement in the final third to help open up a very good defensive side.
Anthony Martial: 10/10
Brilliant performance from Martial today. All smiles after bagging a hat-trick, United’s first in the Premier League since RVP’s against Aston Villa that sealed the title in 2013. Had an excellent touch on each of his goals, and linked up very well with the supporting cast. Certainly his best overall performance in a United shirt in some time.
Substitutes
Andreas Pereira: N/A
No impact. Had a turnover, per usual.
Odion Ighalo: N/A
Got in good positions, but couldn’t finish off a move.
Daniel James: N/A
Not on long, no real impact.
Juan Mata: N/A
No real impact, but stretched his legs in a competitive fixture after a few months out.
Scott McTominay: N/A
Got some minutes, will likely feature more at the weekend.
Manager
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer: 8/10
Great team setup. Pogba and Bruno are developing a good understanding, and all three forwards had good opportunities. A bit odd they didn’t get more from the match, but no complaints after a 3-0 win over decent opposition. Got to rotate the five-headed attack late, but maybe could have rotated some players a bit sooner with a big game at the weekend.
