Manchester United have confirmed that Tahith Chong has left the club to join Werder Bremen on a one-year loan. The young winger had been widely expected to spend the 2020-21 season on loan, as he is at an age where he needs regular football, and he was unlikely going to get sufficient game time at United.

Good luck, Tahith! #MUFC
Chong was handed his senior debut last year by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, and has spent the last season on the fringes of United’s first team. Although Chong did little to show that he was ready to seriously compete for a first team place, his talent and performances for the reserves were enough to convince United to offer him a 2-year contract extension in March.

Chong was given permission to start training with Werder Bremen on Sunday. The 20-year-old academy graduate will spend the entirely of next season in the Bundesliga, and will wear no. 22 for Bremen. With the German league set to resume on September 18th, Chong could make his debut for his new temporary employers in as little as a month.
