Manchester United’s season came to a disappointing end Sunday evening after a 2-1 defeat against Sevilla in the Europa League semi-finals. Midfielder Bruno Fernandes opened the scoring early into the contest after converting a penalty in the ninth minute. Unfortunately, the Reds couldn’t maintain the lead and in the 26th minute, Suso netted the equalizer for the Spanish side.
Poor defending, missed chances and lack of squad depth for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s men ultimately led to Luuk de Jong’s winner in the 78th minute. This marks the first time in 31 years United have gone three consecutive campaigns without a trophy.
