Starters
Sergio Romero: 9/10
Not much to do today. Had a couple nice saves, and not much he could do about LASK’s only goal of the evening. Bonus points because he got to debut the dope new keeper kit too.
Timothy Fosu-Mensah: 4/10
Ole really doesn’t like Diogo Dalot, huh...
Eric Bailly: 6/10
I guess he was alright. Made things exciting at one point by doing that thing he does, y’know the one where he makes you think he’ll give the ball away?
Harry Maguire: 7/10
Captain got in some much needed minutes to keep his legs fresh after only starting 38 Premier League matches.
Brandon Williams: 6/10
On and off performance. Lacking left foot ability, which continues to show, but played in a ball that should have led to the first goal, one which Daniel James and Jesse Lingard both missed.
Scott McTominay: 4/10
Scotty is lacking in McSauce. See Pauly’s twitter for more.
Fred: 6/10
Hasn’t played a lot since the restart. Clearly needed a game, and played some nice passes forward too.
Daniel James: 4/10
Danny boy still lacking in execution at times, but got to stretch his legs and turn on the burners a couple times today. Should probably work a bit more on everything else though.
Jesse Lingard: 6/10
Some good work today, including the equalizer after beating a high LASK defensive line. He’s (technically) on a scoring streak now, so look out for him in the quarters.
Juan Mata: 6/10
Showing his age again, but played a couple nice passes.
Odion Ighalo: 5/10
Nearly set himself up on the turn once, other than that, not super involved. Poor service from his providers on a couple opportunities.
Substitutes
Paul Pogba: 8/10
Paul stepped onto the pitch and immediately looked levels above everyone. Get out of here with that weak “we don’t need him” shit. Placing passes all over the place to remind us what football looks like
Andreas Pereira: 4/10
Just gotta give my man a 4 for old times sake. It’s been too long, Andy. Keep giving that ball away, my dude.
Anthony Martial: 9/10
Just like his countryman, Tony was cuts above. Really showing a lack of depth. Would be nice if Ole didn’t haVE TO WEAR OUT HIS STARTERS EVERY WEEK TO AVOID ROTATING IN ALL THE DEAD WEIGHT WE SAW TODAY BUY PLAYERS COUGH ED WOODWARD COUGH COUGH. Scored a nice goal too, which gave United a win.
Teden Mengi: N/A
Made his debut for United today, good for him.
Tahith Chong: N/A
Left back? Hair back? Interesting.
Marcus Rashford’s annoyed face when Tony overtook him in goals: 10/10
Nice jobe, Rash. You’ll get one next time.
Manager
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer: 10/10
Tough one today, but Ole remained calm and made the right substitutions to get us a comeback win on a 2nd leg knockout European night at Old Trafford. What a guy.
