Real Madrid have offered Manchester United their young left-back Sergio Reguilón. That’s according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, who has proven to be more reliable than most in such matters. David de Gea fanned the flames with an Instagram selfie featuring Reguilón on Saturday, though the post — even more suspiciously — appears to have since been deleted.
Reguilón, 23, delivered a string of brilliant performances on loan at Sevilla last season, and played a starring role in their Europa League semifinal win over United. It’s easy to imagine that Ole Gunnar Solskjær fancies him as the long-term solution to the Reds’ left-back conundrum.
Real Madrid may have deemed Reguilón surplus to requirements in light of the emergence of Ferland Mendy as their first choice in the left-back position. The 25-year-old Frenchman joined the club from Lyon last summer, and made 25 appearances as Real went on to lift the La Liga title.
If United are to land Reguilón, they’ll likely have to fend off interest from a string of other high-profile clubs. Arsenal are said to be among those interest in signing the Spaniard. Watch this space.
